Global Soups

Grace, an active AMIS student from Taiwan, recently contributed a soup recipe to First Presbyterian Church of Atlanta for their Global Soup Project featuring soups from around the world as they learn more about different countries and cultures.

Here is what it said:

This week, Atlanta Ministry with International Students (AMIS) shares a recipe from a student:

Taiwanese Soup

Grace (Yun-Hsuan Chen) hails from Taipei, Taiwan and sends us a hello:

I’m currently studying city planning and civil engineering dual degree at Georgia Tech. Being far away from home can create lots of ups and downs in your life, and it is not always easy. However, the things I've experienced and learned, the obstacles I've overcome, and the people I met here have made me grow. Such growth always ensure me that I had made the right choice to come here.

FPC's Global Mission Partnership with AMIS

Since 1978, AMIS has been welcoming international students and scholars to the Atlanta area through many programs and events which help them get to know our city and connect them to local families and individuals who want to serve and make international friends. AMIS' international students come from over 50 different nations and are students at Georgia Tech, Georgia State, Emory, Columbia Theological Seminary, Agnes Scott, Kennesaw State, Morehouse College, Oglethorpe University, Atlanta Technical College, Chattahoochee Technical College and Georgia Southwestern University. FPC partners with AMIS by providing an annual contribution. In the past FPC members have been active participants in AMIS' "Amigo" program, an opportunity for permanent Atlanta residents from local congregations to befriend an international student and accompany them through their time in Atlanta. Right now, AMIS is conducting the Amigo program virtually. There are a few international students waiting for friends this year. Interested participants can sign up here.
